Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2, 2026

At Privacy Layer, our core philosophy is that you have an absolute right to privacy. We want you to remain completely anonymous when using our service. Therefore, our policy is simple: we do not store any activity logs, and we retain the absolute minimum amount of data required to keep the service running.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we process, why we process it, and your rights regarding your information under the laws of Hong Kong.

1. No-Logs Policy

Privacy Layer is a strict no-logs VPN service. When you connect to our servers, we do not collect, store, or monitor any of the following:

  • Your real IP address
  • Browsing history or visited websites
  • Traffic destination or metadata
  • DNS queries
  • Connection timestamps or session duration

2. Categories of Data We Process

Because we do not require an email address, phone number, or name to create an account, your privacy is protected by default. However, we may process specific data in the following limited situations:

A. Account Information

What we store: When you start using Privacy Layer, the app generates a random, unique Account Code. We only store this code and the subscription tier/Tokens associated with it.

Purpose: To authenticate your app and grant access to the VPN network.

B. Payment Information

To provide our service, we must process payments. Depending on your payment method, we process the following:

Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Monero): We generate a unique payment address for your transaction. No personal data is attached to this payment.

Bank Cards: Payments are processed securely by third-party payment providers. Privacy Layer does not store your full credit card number. We only receive basic transaction details (such as a transaction ID, date, and the last 4 digits of the card) necessary to verify the purchase and process refunds.

App Store / Google Play: We only receive confirmation of a successful subscription from Apple or Google.

C. Customer Support

What we process: If you contact us via email ([email protected]) or Telegram (@privacylayersupport_bot), we will process your email address or Telegram handle, along with any information you choose to share in your message.

Purpose: To resolve your issues, provide technical support, and answer inquiries.

3. Data Retention: How Long Do We Keep Your Data?

We believe in keeping data only for as long as it is strictly necessary:

Account Data: If you initiate an account deletion through the app, your Account Code and all associated subscription/Token data will be permanently deleted from our servers within 1 or 30 days, depending on your active subscription tier.

Payment Data: Transaction IDs for bank card payments are kept for at least 10 days to honor our money-back guarantee, and subsequently stored only as long as required by applicable accounting and tax laws.

Support Data: Communications via email or Telegram are archived upon ticket resolution and permanently deleted after 60 days.

4. Third-Party Recipients

We never sell your data. We only share necessary information with trusted third-party service providers (such as payment processors) strictly for the purpose of processing your transactions. These providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and data protection standards.

5. Data Transfers and Security

Privacy Layer operates under the jurisdiction of Hong Kong. Our VPN servers operate entirely in RAM (RAM-only infrastructure), meaning any temporary operational data is instantly wiped upon a server reboot.

6. Automated Decision-Making

We do not use any automated decision-making processes or profiling based on your personal data.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.

However, please note: Because Privacy Layer accounts are entirely anonymous and tied only to a randomly generated Account Code, we cannot identify you based on VPN usage. If you request data regarding a specific Account Code, you must prove ownership of that code. In most cases, we have no personal data to provide other than the transaction history if you paid by bank card.
